However among all these species only three pose a nuisance to humans as they invade homes and other dwellings occupied by humans. Carpet beetles don t usually eat cotton linen or other plant based or synthetic fabrics but they may eat fabric blends or fabrics stained with animal products. The pests can also proliferate on bird nests animal carcasses and dead insects cluster flies lady beetles stink bugs wasps etc which tend to be associated with attics chimneys basements and light fixtures. If exclusion and sanitization techniques fail to eliminate them there are additional measures you can take.
Try using a preventative spray formulated specifically for carpet beetles. Be sure to follow the directions on the packaging and test it out in an inconspicuous area first.
